Supreeth Rao

Professional Journey

I’m Supreeth, currently a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at GrapheneAI where I architect intelligent systems at the crossroads of Natural Language Processing, High-Performance Computing, Information Retrieval, and Agentic Systems. My work involves researching, building, and scaling intelligent systems for enterprise applications.

My journey in AI began during my research internship at the Department of Electronics Systems Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). There, I focused on Automatic Speech Recognition and Language Modeling, which culminated in the development of HEVAL—a hybrid evaluation metric for ASR systems published in IEEE ASRU 2023.

Education and Leadership

I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Ramaiah Institute of Technology (2019-2023), where I was also the Lead for the Google Developer Student Club, the largest student-run technical club on campus. In this role, I organized technical workshops, hackathons, and events that introduced over 500 students to machine learning, cloud computing, and more.

At GrapheneAI, I’ve expanded beyond technical challenges to mentoring 10 interns.

I frequently mentor students for hackathons and coding competitions. I’ve also had the privilege of being a judge for several hackathons, including Smart India Hackathon 2023 and 2024.

Beyond Technology

Having worked in both academic research and industry applications, I’ve gained a unique perspective on the intersection of theoretical innovation and practical implementation. This dual experience informs my approach to solving complex problems in AI. Outside of my professional pursuits, I’m a voracious reader with interests spanning Computer Science, Physics, Electronics, and Culinary Arts. As an enthusiastic epicurean, I enjoy exploring diverse cuisines and appreciate the artistry of fine dining. I’m continually excited about the evolving possibilities in machine learning and look forward to contributing to this rapidly advancing field.
